Yuuri, a Japanese high-school student and an avid baseball player, gets quite unfortunately,
sucked into the toilet bowl one fine day, and finds himself in a completely different world. In this world,
Yuuri discovers that he's actually of the Demon race and better still, he's the world's new King (or Maou)! As
he struggles with his culture shock and the fact that Demons and Humans in his new world are basically at war,
he is aided by a whole bunch of incredibly beautiful male assistants. |

COMMENTS |
: |
This is an obviously shounen-ai, plotless and mindlessly entertaining anime. It makes no
excuses for itself and really, this is what stops me from making any real criticism. KKM is unrepentantly fluffy,
with loads of hilarious shounen-ai situations, cutesey characters (including a virgin-crazed sword, a Sand Panda,
housemaids who keep hoping the men would get together), and a plot that is basically, not a real plot at all.
Don't be bothered by it. KKM is meant to be harmless fun, and if you take it AS harmless fun, you'd totally
enjoy it. Just don't expect anything deep or thought-provoking. ^_~ |

MAIN CHARACTERS |
: |
Below are the top 6 main characters in KKM. |
| |
SHIBUYA YUURI. Basically, he's this very naive, optimistic and never-say-never
kinda boy. He's very sweet, very likeable and yes, he WOULD be truly a Mary Sue, if not for his self-deprecating
humour. Sometimes his Utopian, 'let's-make-world-peace' view of the world is really annoying, but oh well,
we all forgive him anyway. |
| |
WOLFRAM VON BIELEFELD. An arrogant, fiesty proud boy with a rather misguided attitude.
He initially resents Yuuri for his supposed incompetence, but later, because of a cultural quirk, ends
up being Yuuri's 'fiancee'. ^^;; And he is one JEALOUS fiancee - even if he softens towards Yuuri eventually. |
| |
CONRAD WELLER. The quintessential nice guy. He is nice to a fault, playing
father (or older lover for some yaoi fans) figure to Yuuri and protecting him at all costs. He's the one who
understands Yuuri the most, and he was even there when Yuuri was born on earth for safekeeping. |
| |
GÜNTER VON KLEIST. A fluttery, Yuuri-obsessed man who also happens to be very good
at swordplay, LOL. Other than periodically nose-bleeding after seeing Yuuri half-dressed, Gunter is actually a
a very sweet man. He's a fangirl too, lol, right down to the gushing and hyperventilating. ^o^ |
| |
GWENDAL VON WALDE. A stern, fierce man who is actually a kitten on the inside. ^o^
He's excellent at strategising and is an all-rounded military man and leader. Although he doesn't take to Yuuri
at first, later he would protect Yuuri just as staunchly as the rest. And really, Gwendal is such a softie, which you'd find out if you watch. ^^ |
| |
CHERIE VON SPITZBERG. YUURI-FANGIRL! And the previous Maou before Yuuri. Other than playing mother to Wolfram, Konrad and Gwendal
(damn, does she have good genes!), she likes to go on love cruises to well, meet men. |

ANIMATION |
: |
Not bad! The colours especially, are very lavish. Really, the whole anime is a festival of
colour and flattering bishounen shots. ^_^ There ARE quite a few inconsistencies and you can tell that
the anime's not made on the biggest budget, but then again, the focus is never on the animation anyway. It's about the BISHOUNEN. ^^;;

VOICE-ACTING |
: |
They're all good, but I think Inoue Kazuhiko stands out for his breathless,
hyperventilating, fangirly, sometimes-serious, self-absorbed portrayal of Günter. Sakurai Takahiro has
pretty good comic timing as Yuuri. |

MUSIC |
: |
The only thing I remember of the music is the opening track, which is a happy rock number:
- Hateshinaku Tooi Sora Ni (OP 1) sung by THE STAND UP
